Welcome to the Vornhagen Lab!
We love bacteria!
Specifically, we love gut bacteria! The gut is often a reservoir for bacteria that can cause infection. The Vornhagen lab studies how these bacteria with pathogenic potential can live in the gut despite the harsh ecosystem. By understanding how these bacteria live in the gut, we hope to selectively remove them to prevent infections, especially those complicated by antibiotic resistance, before they occur.
The mission of the Vornhagen Lab is to enact cutting-edge research while providing an inclusive environment that wholistically trains the next generation of scientists.
The vision of the Vornhagen Lab is to positively impact our local and broader community through scientific discovery, advocacy, and outreach.
